A beautiful show in the sky

Just was walking around in the evening and saw it. Actually, I saw it yesterday too when I was out in Long Beach with friends, but tonight it seemed even more beautiful.
This photograph was taken with simple Canon A620, hand-held – no tripod. It’s a JPEG with best quality. This camera doesn’t shoot RAW unless you use CHDK, which is painful to use when installed on a 4GB MultiMedia Card because Canon can only auto-load firmware from flashcard formatted as FAT under 2GB in size.

Still confused? It’s the thin crescent of the Moon, Venus and Jupiter alignment. If I was standing on a high ground, I could also see Pluto over the horizon. Could I have seen this view with a full moon? No. More LA smog in the sky would have ruined the view as well. Lucky… Especially considering that Monday is the last chance to see Venus catch up to Jupiter and form triangle with our Moon until November 18, 2052!!!

If I waited long enough, Jupiter, Venus and Moon would have formed a smily face

The next time it’s going to happen is 2058!
