Gal Gadot says his film Cleopatra will “celebrate” the story of the Egyptian ruler


She obviously can’t be too precise, but Gal Gadot sheds new light on her next one Cleopatra movie. Originally, Gadot was to find Wonder woman helmer Patty Jenkins, who would also be the director of this project. It was recently announced that Jenkins will now be producing the film and Kari Skogland (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) had come on board to direct the feature film.

The story of Cleopatra is one that has been told over and over again over the years, from books to movies and everything in between. This poses a challenge when making a new film, as Gadot and Skogland will be tasked with bringing something unique to the table for this new one. Cleopatra stand alone. Talk about the film with Reverse, Gadot said the story would look at Cleopatra’s cunning as well as the eternal legacy of the former ruler.


“I can’t reveal much, but I can tell you that we are going to celebrate the story of Cleopatra,” Gadot said. “We’re going to show not only how sexy and attractive she was, but also how strategic and intelligent she was, and what impact she had and still has on the world we live in today. Cleopatra was the highest grossing film of 1963 with largely positive reviews for the film. With the right director and the right star, the possibility is always there for a new Cleopatra film to have similar success, and Paramount is going full steam ahead with Gal Gadot and Kari Skogland.

Laeta Kalogridis (Alita: the angel of battle, Shutter island) writes Gadot’s script Cleopatra film and also serves as executive producer. The film is produced by Charles Roven, Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot of Atlas Entertainment, and his partner Jaron Varsano under their banner Pilot Wave Motion Pictures.

This project would be a top priority for Paramount, but a release date has not been revealed without any new word on when filming begins. The announced plan is for the Cleopatra film to see a release sometime in 2023. Until then, Gadot fans can then see the future Cleopatra star appears in Kenneth Branagh film Death on the Nile, in theaters on February 11, 2022.
