Wendell and savage is a stop-motion animated film from Oscar-nominated director Henry Selick. He is best known for making stop-motion animated films. The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the giant peach and Coralina. Selick also co-wrote the screenplay for Wendell and savage with Nopeit’s Jordan Peele.
The story follows two scheming demon brothers who enlist the help of a punk rock-loving teenage girl to summon them to the land of the living so they can live out their dream of building their own amusement park. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele play the two sneaky demon brothers, Wendell and Wild, and the teenager is voiced by It’s us starring Lyric Ross. Watching the movie, you might recognize some of the other voices like Angela Bassett, James Hong, Ving Rhames, Sam Zelaya, Tamara Smart, Ramona Young, Natalie Martinez, Gabrielle Dennis, Maxine Peake, and more.

Wendell & Wild Parent Guide and Age Rating
Wendell and savage is rated PG-13, which means this movie may be inappropriate for ages 12 and under. He received this age rating for certain thematic material, violence, substance use, and brief foul language. Given that the movie centers around demons, it’s no surprise that it isn’t suitable for younger audiences.
If you just watch the trailer, you’ll find plenty of scenes from the movie that would scare younger kids. There’s a clip where a demon’s hands come out of someone’s body, a person opens a coffin full of bugs, and skeletons walk around. Even appearances by Wendell and Wild can scare some kids. Overall, you can watch this movie with older kids, but we recommend finding something else for younger kids to watch.
