Tickets for Jack Neo’s New Movie “Ah Girls Go Army” Will Be Sold With NFTs


Singaporean moviegoers buying advance tickets for a local movie Ah the girls are going to the army will receive non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for free, its production companies announced.

Ah the girls are going to the army is the last entry in the Ah boys to men comedy franchise, directed by Jack Neo, which depicts the lives of young men in Singapore undergoing compulsory military service (a two-year period known locally as National Service or NS).

The new film is set in a fictional future in Singapore where women are called to serve Nova Scotia after the country’s low birth rate results in an insufficient number of Singaporean men.

Today (January 21), production companies mm2 Entertainment and J Team announced plans to give away 8,888 NFTs – 8 being an auspicious number in Chinese culture – with advance ticket purchases. with the Cathay Cineplexes cinema chain.

Advance tickets will start selling next Friday (January 28) at noon through Cathay’s official website and mobile app. NFTs will be offered free with the purchase of two tickets. It is not currently known how much advance tickets will cost.

The film opens on February 1, which marks the start of the Lunar New Year holiday in Singapore.

According to a press release, each token will provide owners first access to future Ah the girls are going to the army cinema-related events and merchandise. Owners will also be notified in advance of future additions to the NFT collection.

When purchasing tickets, tokens can be redeemed through Metaviva, mm2 Asia’s NFT marketplace.

Ah the girls are going to the army was originally announced on September 30, alongside a casting call on social media.

Actress Apple Chan, who starred in the 2017s Ah boys to men 4, returns to the franchise to reprise her role as Lieutenant Roxanne.
